Raymond Scott – Jazz and Lab Coats

Musical visionary, bandleader, composer, inventor, engineer and more.

As a bandleader during the 30’s and 40’s Raymond Scott was well respected as a great tunesmith and musician, his melodies later found their way into the Loony Tunes cartoons of the 1950’s, helping along many a Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny cartoon. Along side his musical career Raymond was a secret boffin, building his own electronics and sound manipulation equipment. From his experiments he set up a successful business, Manhattan Research Inc. Here he would compose countless electronic jingles and sound effects for adverts and would later release a set of records called ‘Soothing Sounds for Babies’, electronic compositions aimed at aurally stimulating the new born during their first months of development.
